Inspiration Bank features over 1,000 images from The New Art Gallery Walsall's art collections.
The Garman Ryan Collection contains over 365 works. The collection was donated to the borough in 1972 by Lady Kathleen Epstein, second wife of the sculptor Jacob Epstein. As such, Epstein's work is very well represented in the collection, alongside other significant works by major European artists. The collection originally grew from Jacob Epstein's own private collection and hence historical artefacts from all over the world supplement Western treasures.
The Permanent Collection consists of over 1,500 art works in many different media from the nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Many works are related to the town of Walsall (local artists, topographical views) and others have been bought from contemporary exhibitions held at the gallery.

Wolverhampton Arts and Museums Service are committed to providing wider access to the collections in its care and the inclusion of objects from our collections onto this website is just one way we aim to achieve this.
You can also browse collections information and images on the Wolverhampton Arts and Museums Service website, read in-depth articles on specific objects or collections and also download images of collection objects.
Highlights of our Art collections include unique artworks looking at the modern phase of the conflict in Northern Ireland, a notable Pop Art collection, exquisite Georgian paintings from the 1700s and a large number of paintings by Victorian artists, in particular by the group of Artists known as the Cranbrook Colony.
We also have an impressive Asian collection built up in the early 1900s, through gifts from wealthy local families which contains Japanese, Chinese, Indian and Middle Eastern decorative items dating from the 1500s to the early 1900s.
Our history collections include decorative items from the last four hundred years and other items of local historical significance, a Geology collection and a collection of archaeological artefacts.
The West Midlands led the world in the manufacture of decorative art and industrial design. Our 'local interest' collections focus on these skills and includes cut steel jewellery, enamels, Japanned ware and ceramics.
